  • Five Years in the Desert

    I’ve walked five years

    In sand and wind

    Without a drop to drink

    Although it’s been there

    Everywhere

    Dearest fallback friend

    My path was long

    And cumbersome

    Ungainly at its best

    Over hills too steep

    and valleys filled

    with ever parching heat

    Past countless bones

    And haunting cries

Of those who’d lost their way

    Or looked too long

    Into the wells

    Inviting all to stay

    I’ve found a guide

    To help my through

    The many troubled times

    I’ve found a way

    To live each day

    No different from the rest

    And at the dawning

    Of this new year

I hope to stay the course

  • Dear Andreas,.

This is wonderful. I don’t know that it’s a “new genre”. Didn’t ELO mix classical and rock riffs back in the 70s? I can hardly wait for some vocals over some of these music tracks, although let me tell ya, I’ve saved each and every one of these (and I still particularly like the one called “Moderne” which was one of the first you created, and will be featured on one of my movies, as soon as I get a new computer. (I’m having some serious memory problems with the current one, and can’t even finish the movie I have half created.)

I want to thank you for (returning) leaving some really interesting comments on my blog lately. I know it’s heck for you to slog through my long posts, but your rambling comments make up for it, and never worry about free association with me. I used to love to hear Marshall McLuhan speak, and if you’ve ever heard him, you know what I mean. Sometimes tangenital thought is actually more concise than direct “pointed” thought, because of the many paths the mind takes. Keep it up. I’m lovin’ it.

And I’ll agree, I need a girlfriend desperately. I’ve now been celibate for over 5 years, and I’m not getting any younger. Pat is of course the subject of “The Pat Poems” from the early 90s and although I rarely “write” her as a less than generous girlfriend, I certainly  would rather be single than be in another relationship like that again. We’re not together anymore because she cheated on me, and gave me a window to end the relationship.

You and Maureen seem to be a cute couple. I’m very happy for you both. When’s the wedding?

  • congratulations on your special day!  You have some great phrases here “dearest fallback friend” and the part about those who’ve lost their way “looked into the wells inviting all to stay”.    Those two little bits say sooooo much to those who know.  It’s nice to see you writing a little bit again, mr. maestro.

  • I am not sure what the poem means to you personally, but it is very touching. The music was great too!

  • I think I know what it means.

Shucks! You look so young in your new profile pic! It’s freaking me out a little. I suddenly feel old. :)

I guess I leave the comments disabled on the letters because I don’t really want them. Reading back over that sentence, that sounds harsh, but, if you could hear my voice, I’m saying it very matter of factly. They are true letters. I mean, true letters I’ve written in the past and for some odd and unexplainable reason I’ve decided to stick them out there for my whole 9 readers to see. :)

I don’t want comments on them because I’m not looking for writing critiques or accolades or whatever people might say. I’ll probably continue to put them out there but inbetween I’ll do some normal (used very very loosely) updates with comments enabled. You of course, can always feel free to comment on whatever you want. I usually like what you have to say.
