  • Here are some really simple lyrics to a really simple song I concocted for the various kids in my life.  It is my first attempt at a vocal track… ever.  Maybe my last?  The link to the song, in mp3 format, is below the lyrics.  I think it is kind of fun!

    Swamp Jazz

    There was an alligator

    His name was Mighty Max

    And everywhere he went

    He left his mighty tracks

    He cruised around the swamp

    All day and every night

    Looking for somethin’ tasty

    Things that he could bite

    Well, Max like looking good

    In his alligator leather

    He wore it quite exclusively

    Out in any weather

    Didn’t need sun glasses

When he walked onto the scene

His teeth were big an pointy

    He was always getting mean

    Yes, he liked layin’ low

    He liked stayin’ cool

    He liked playin’ bass

He liked to sing the blues

    Struttin’ yeah

    Oh yeah

    Layin’ low

    And staying cool

    Mighty Max

    He’s the man

    He played bass

    He sang the blues

    Swamp Jazz, smokin’

    Always on his mind

    Swamp Jazz

    That certain bump and grind

    Swamp Jazz

All the lady gators loved him

    Watched him when he walked

They sighed and heaved and fainted

When they heard the way he talked

He knew just how to treat ‘em

‘Cause he had all the moves

And when it came to dancing

He knew all the latest grooves

All his friends thought him the greatest

The rest looked on in fear

They all made him a space

    Whenever he’d draw near

    He always had the plan

He was the leader of the swamp

    Anyone that crossed him

    Would experience his chomp

    But he liked being mellow

    Sitting in the shade

    And checking out the ladies

    They all made the grade

    He like layin’ low

    He liked stayin’ cool

    He liked lookin’ good

    Swamp Jazz

    Struttin’  yeah

    Stayin’ mellow

    Everything’s all right

    With Swamp Jazz

    It’s smokin’

    Always on his mind

    Swamp Jazz

    That certain bump and grind

    Swamp Jazz

  • Still on the road…last day…so i won’t be able to hear your song ’til tomorrow

Saw you on maureenrose’s site, and i’m always a sucker for a fellow guitarist, plus, eventually i plan to lay down some Eddie Van Hendrix tracks for my readers although i haven’t a clue how to do so

  • Dear Andreas,

Just have time for “Swamp Jazz” right now and it’s fantastic. Love the vocals, and the gator himself in his appearances. We have a gator here in Harbor City in one of the parks. It made the Yahoo News. Mighty Max, checking out the ladies.”

Reminds me of the songs of Warren Zevon, like “Werewolves of London” instead of, say, Joe South or Creedence. You did say it was for kids,  but it’s neat as a vocal. I can hardly wait to hear more. I would add some deeper bass on the intro before your vocal comes in. On my computer anyway it just seemed like I needed to hear either a bass drum or a stronger lick.

Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool, and your 2nd or 3rd biggest fan. *I’ll assume Maureen is your first, and congrats about moving in together.*

  • I think the lyrics are fantastically cute!! I”m really sorry I’ve been a little scarce lately, but work has been quite busy the past two months so I don’t get on-line at the moment as often as I used to. Of course… I was deeply saddened to learn of Terry’s passing. I feel a void in my heart. Thanks for keeping in touch.

    Peace.

  • i would skeez it (“Swamp Jazz”) it up a bit and go sardonic on vocals a la Zappa on *Willie the Pimp*

As for Hendrix minimalism…my main amp and future effects box is a Roland mini-cube, and once i get another wah-wah pedal, i’ll be set  Now get thee out to a record store & git some pre-”Flashlight” Funkadelic.

  • Hi Andreas,

I absolutely love Swamp Jazz. The kids must too. Its so cute. Totally brought me back to my days of my childhood. It made me think of that song about a hippo named Buela (Buela the beast was a vegetarian). You have such a knack with these things. Your talents always amaze me.

You have alot of things going on in your life. Some big and wonderful changes. I wish you the best of luck. Im very happy for you. I will keep your “secret”as to not tarnish your “macho” image..lol You know my secret as well. All if going just fine with Mike and we spend alot of time together. My Xanga is slacking a little because of it but its the price you pay for happiness.

You look so different with a completely shaven face.Very very SEXY! I think thats why you are now getting a roomie. Youre irresistable like that :) Its always wonderful to hear from you. I look forward to more updates on your life and your happiness. Youre such a Sweetheart. I thank you so much for all of your time and kind words.

                                                                                     Love,

                                                                                     Kelly
